woo-hoo!!! Choir Cadenza 2005 is over!!! we put up a fantastic show pple!!!!!!! yay, im so proud of NY Choir, u guys rock!!
ok, after my exhuberant (is this how u spell it?) use of exclaimation marks, i shall get down to the serious business of updating my blog. i shall apologise for my being bouncy and all, but we just put on a fantastic show, and im just so happy and proud!
righto, Cadenza showcased a variety of songs in many different languages, like English,
Chinese, Malay, Tamil, Japanese, Latin, Russian, Argentinian, and Brazilian. three of the songs were our SYF pieces, Sunset, Exultate Deo and Shishi-Mai, so there was not much problem with them, just a little finetuning needed. but there were songs that the year 2s learned last year, and mostly forgotten by now. also, some people had to switch parts, and/or learn different parts, so it was difficult. the year 1s had it even tougher, because they were new to everything except the SYF pieces. they had to learn everything from scratch, and they really did a marvelous job, learning fast and catching things quickly. the year 2s also did their part, teaching the year 1s, and learning the new songs quickly.
everyone was willing to stay back in school everyday and help out with props and paint the banner, and we all had fun while doing it, practicing our pieces, especially the more difficult ones like Te Querio and Salmo 150. Salmo 150, or Psalm 150, is one of my favourite pieces. its pulsating rhythm and joyful words calling one and all to praise the Lord, really sets my heart pumping. Te Querio is also a favourite piece. i love its sweet melodies, and the haunting words speak to my heart. oh, and i love Tres Cantos Nativos, the Brazilian tribal piece! the animal sounds that the girls make, and the rhythm of the words, really make one feel as though he or she is walking through the Amazon rainforest and hearing all the animals and seeing the tribe dance. Pacho pa re adjo se re, u e ne re ca po ra djo se re. i hope i spell it correctly....
ah, the Russian song, Bogorodiste Devo (i hope i spell it correctly..) is vv soothing. i really like it too, its very peaceful and comforting, and me being the Mezzo, i dun really need to push for the high notes like the Sopranos. muz understand that im soprano also, but i juz jump from soprano to alto and back again. but i had a great deal of fun learning the songs.
now that Cadenza is over, i can settle down to study, but there's a feeling of nostalgia.. that i dun want to leave this choir, adn this great super bunch of crazy wacky friends that i've made. to name them all would be exhausting, but i'll miss singing with them and working together with them. i probably won't get to go home together with merrini and koh him and darren anymore, bcos we are in different class and end at different times. i'll miss scaring the fat orange cat with the clashing notes of Soprano 1 and Alto 1 and Baritone in Exultate Deo. its all the little things like wan rong's 'self-entertaining' speech she always gives us sops in sectionals, like the times thomas pulls my shoelaces, like the times suk taps me and tells me that i need to support my notes or that i did well; or merrini saying that i need to support more. surprisingly, im gonna miss Leo and his high notes (aka his way of getting attention) and so many more!!!
to all the year 1s, u guys did a great job of learning everything so fast and cooperating wonderfully with your SLs. miss u guys. keep up the good work!! to all year 2s, my fellow friends, let us always keep in touch with one another, and support each other in whatever way we can. together we are one voice, one soul. take care everybody!!!
we've got to all stand together, good friends there for each other. never forget that, i've got you and you've got me, so.... Reach for the Stars!! Climb every mountain higher... Follow your heart's desire.. And when that rainbow's shining over you.. that's when your dreams will all come true!!
